Three positions are available and the time committment varies for each- Position 4 is a four-year term that ends Dec. 31, 2023, position 7 will complete the remainder of a four-year term that ends Dec. 31, 2021, and position 6 will complete the remainder of a four-year term that ends Dec. 31, 2022.

Why You’re Needed: Use your skills to help your city develop long range plans for development, determine how best to meet varied needs through zoning, and give your input on smart design that enhances community connections, economic opportunities, and the natural beauty of our area. There is currently 1 woman on this 7 member board.

Job Basics: The Planning Commission is a seven-member citizen panel responsible for advising the City Council on matters related to long-range community planning, such as the adopted Sequim Comprehensive Plan.

Meeting Schedule: Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 6PM.

In the past year Planning Commissioners have recommended updating codes and various city ordinances including zoning recommendations for downtown parking, recommending that the City adopt the Transportation Improvement Plan, and discussing the City Waste Water Source Control Program. 

SKILLS NEEDED

• Knowledge of land planning, permitting structures, and basic zoning.

• A desire to enhance your community through smart design and planning.

• Familiarity with neighborhoods and boundaries.

• Must reside within the Clallam County boundaries of the Sequim School District.

The City of Sequim is comprised of a growing population of just under 7,000 residents. 55% of community members are women with a median age of 57.
