Elevate Clallam March Event @ Harbinger Winery
Candidate Filing Week opened yesterday for local elections. With over 50 open positions available, there are several key positions we hope folks will consider stepping into this week.
In particular, we need more women to add their name to the list of candidates for the Charter Review Commission. The Charter Review presents the perfect opportunity to jump into a short term elected office that has a crucial impact. Commissioners play a key role in maintaining or advocating for amendments to the structure of our city government. Running for this office would be a good introduction to the election process as it requires very little campaigning due to the structure of this particular elected seat and it is only a one year term.
Additional positions with open seats include Sequim City Council, Port Angeles City Council, and Port Angeles School Board. Is there a woman in your circle who needs a nudge to run? TODAY is the day to convince them as time is running out.

A huge thank you to all of the women who attended our March candidate workshop for women who were considering running for an elected position. 25 women joined us and shared their aspirations. Many in the room were thinking ahead to elections beyond 2019 and we can’t wait to support them. A few folks shared a desire to run in the 2019 campaign and we look forward to supporting these women.
Once filing week comes to a close and we determine who needs campaign support we will follow up with a date for our next event How to Join a Campaign Team. We know that this event will be well attended!
